Three fish is a very good story. There was a large reservoir connected to a river, situated along the riverbank. The water in the reservoir was deep, so algae and aquatic microplants, the favorite food of fish, grew there.Such places are very pleasing to fish. Many fish from the river also used to live in that reservoir.
All the fish would come to that reservoir to lay eggs. That reservoir was surrounded by long grass and bushes, making it difficult to spot easily. There were three fishes lived in it.Their natures were different.Anna believed in taking measures to avert a crisis as soon as signs of it appeared.

Pratyu used to say that one should try to avoid a crisis only when it arrives.Yaddi’s thinking was that talking about averting or escaping a crisis was useless; nothing could be done, whatever was written in fate would happen.

One evening, fishermen were returning home after catching fish in the river.Very few fish were caught in their nets. Therefore, their faces were sad.Just then, they saw a flock of fish-eating birds flying above the bushes. All of them had fish pressed in their beaks.
They were startled. One guessed, “Friends! It seems there’s a reservoir connected to the river behind these bushes, where so many fish are thriving.”The fishermen, thrilled, came out through the bushes to the bank of the reservoir and began to look at the fish with greedy eyes. One fisherman said, “Ah! This reservoir is full of fish. We never knew about it until today.”
“We will get a lot of fish here,” said another. The third said, “It’s getting dark today. We will come and cast our nets here tomorrow morning.”In this way, the fishermen decided on their plan for the next day and left. All three fish had heard the fishermen’s conversation.
Anna fish said, “Comrades! You have heard the fishermen’s words. Now, staying here is not without danger. We have received a warning of danger. We should take measures to save our lives in time. I am leaving this reservoir right now and going to the river via the canal. Let the fishermen come in the morning and cast their nets, I don’t care. By then, I will be frolicking far away.”

Three Fish and the Power of Foresight
Pratyu fish said, “If you want to go, then go, I am not coming. The danger hasn’t come yet, so there’s no need to be so worried. It’s possible that the fishermen’s plan to come here might be canceled, maybe rats will gnaw at their nets at night, maybe a fire will break out in their settlement, an earthquake might destroy their village, or there might be torrential rain at night and their village might be washed away in a flood. Therefore, their coming is not certain. When they come, we will think then. Maybe I won’t even get caught in their net.”
Yaddi said her fatalistic thing, “Nothing will happen by running away. If the fishermen are to come, they will come. If we are destined to be caught in the net, we will be caught. What can be done if death is written in our fate?”In this way, Anna left immediately.
Pratyu and Yaddi remained in the reservoir. When dawn broke, the fishermen came with their nets and began to cast them in the reservoir and catch fish. When Pratyu saw the danger approaching, she started thinking of ways to save her life. Her mind started working quickly. There was no hollow place nearby to hide. Then she remembered that the carcass of a dead otter had been floating in that reservoir for many days.

Three Fish and the Power of Foresight
It could be useful for her defense. Soon she found the carcass. The carcass had started to rot. Pratyush entered the belly of the carcass and came out covering herself with the stench of the rotting flesh. After some time, Pratyu got caught in the fisherman’s net.
The fisherman pulled his net and overturned the fish from the net onto the bank.
The other fish started to writhe, but Pratyu lay still like a dead fish, holding her breath.
The fisherman got a whiff of the stench and started looking at the fish.
He picked up the motionless Pratyu and sniffed her. “Ugh! This is a dead fish from many days ago. It has rotted.” Muttering like this and making a disgusted face, that fisherman threw Pratyu back into the reservoir.
Pratyu had succeeded in escaping the danger by using her intelligence.
As soon as she fell into the water, she dived and reached a safe depth, saving her life.

Yaddi was also caught in the net of another fisherman and was put in a basket.
Yaddi, who had been relying on fate, writhed and died in the same basket like the other fish.
Moral : Fate also favors those who believe in action and consider action to be primary. The destruction of those who sit idle relying on fate is certain.
